Gordon Landies, Managing Director

Mr. Landies, a founder and managing partner of GL Ventures, LLC has over 20 years of experience in managing, acquire, and selling technology companies.

In 2001, Landies was appointed President of International Microcomputer Software, IMSI.OB, as part of a turnaround team. From 2002 to 2005, the market cap of IMSI grew from $2 million to over $40 million as a result of restructuring the company and growth. During that period, Mr. Landies managed the sale of ArtToday to Jupitermedia, JUPM, for $22 million, 20x earnings, and also managed the purchase and sale of Allume Systems to Smith Micro, SMSI, for $14 million.

In 2003 Landies started Houseplans.com and acquired companies, websites and content to create the leading marketing company of houseplans online.

In 1999, Mr. Landies was the General Manager of the Home and Game division of Mattel Interactive.

From 1994 to 1998 Mr. Landies held positions of Senior Vice President of sales and Executive Vice President for Mindscape, a $130 million consumer software company, which was sold for $150 million to The Learning Company.

From 1990 to 1994 he was an officer of The Software Toolworks which was sold to Pearson PLC for $462 million Mr. Landies previously served on the Board of Directors of IMSI from 1995 to 1998 as well as on the Boards of Directors of Mindscape, Inc, Euniverse (renamed Intermix, Inc. and owner of MySpace) and several other private organizations.

Mr. Landies graduated in 1981 from Northern Illinois University with a Masters of Business Administration and holds a B.S. in economics from Elmhurst College.

  • Joined IMSI Board of Directors in 1995, continued until 1998. Stock increased 400% during that period
  • Senior VP for The Learning Company executive sales team that recorded over $850 million in sales in 1998
  • Helped acquire rights to create and sell National Geographic Collection Series
  • Acquired rights to create and sell Lego Island; first licensed software by Lego
  • Lead Mindscape OEM sales which generated over $40 million in 1995 sales
  • Responsible for over $110 million of sales in the December quarter of 1998 for The Learning Company
  • On the acquisition teams for Printmaster and Strategic
  • Simulations for Mindscape which generated over $30 million in revenue
  • Started Design Software in 1984 and sold it in 1989 to The Software Toolworks (TWRX Nasdaq) Investors got 3x-10x return
